LEADING A GROUP

Am I the right type of person to Lead a Group? 

Yes, you are! We love you and believe in you. You can do this. We're here to help. Partner with someone else you trust as a Co-Lead and it will make it even easier. You got this! 


Do you have to be a member at Christian World to lead a Group? 

The cool answer is, "No!"  We ask that you Co-Lead with a current member. It's a great way to capture the life-giving culture of CWC. We do ask that you complete our GROWTRACK before leading a group on your own. 

 

How do I register my Group? 

There are several ways to register your group. Go on our app or website and fill out our REGISTER MY GROUP form. Text 972-992-1510 with key word and fill out form. If you need help, go to our guest services booth and we will help you! 


Which day and time should my Group be? 

Whichever day and time best fits your own rhythm of life. You can meet first thing in the morning, in the afternoons or evenings. As far as the day of the week, whichever day of the week allows you the best time to prepare for your group. 

 

When and how often will my Group meet? How long should each session be? 

Once a week, at a day and time of your choosing. Best is to prepare yourself and your group for no longer that 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 mins.  

 

Where should my Group meet? 

We encourage you to lead your Group from your (or your co-leader's) home, but you can meet ANYWHERE: gyms, restaurants, coffee shops, parks, ball fields. 


How do I promote my Group?

A few ideas that have worked for many of our other hosts have included: 

1. Sending invitations.

2. Post up that you are doing a group on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.

3. Call or text a family member, friend or neighbor and invite them.

4. Talk to people at before or after one of our services.

5. Help serve on our major sign up days - these will be announced in advance.


How many people should I have in my Group? 

Most common sizes are 6-8. This depends on your room available and comfort level. We recommend aiming for 4-6 people. All you need is you and 2 others to be a group! 


What if too many people sign up for my group? 

As a leader, you get to determine the amount of people who can join your group. Once your group is full, we will remove it from our online directory. 

 

What if no one signs up for my group? 

***Most important tip on this whole page.*** The absolute BEST way to ensure that you won't be all by your lonesome self is to Co-lead with someone.  Plus, we really encourage you to start recruiting people yourself for your group. Reach out to someone within your CWC family, among your family, your friends, your co-workers in a way we never could.

 

What about kids? How do we manage childcare? 

You will want to provide someone who can take care of the children that come to your group.  We offer a reimbursement program incentive to help.  If you need more information, ask a Group Team Member and they will be able to help you.

 

How about food, snacks and stuff? 

We leave that up to you! Keep it simple. Some Group leaders simply have water bottles out or coffee. Some add small snacks, cook or invite their group members to bring a snack to share. This is about building relationships with people and helping others find their next YES to Christ!

WHAT HAPPENS AT A GROUP MEETING?

You’ve probably seen groups meeting and not even realized it. A group looks like friends at lunch, teams playing basketball, or people studying a book or topic of interest. At its core, a group is a small gathering of people, and it is less about what you do and more about who you do it with. By participating in groups, you can expect to connect with others through a common activity, engage in life giving conversation and request prayer.


HOW OFTEN DOES A GROUP MEET?

Our groups meet for three semesters a year—winter/spring, summer and fall. During the semester, most groups meet once a week. Groups are meant to bring meaning and community into the flow of your life, so you want to give it your best effort to attend each meeting. If for some reason you have to miss, talk to you group leader.


WHERE DO GROUPS MEET?

Small groups happen are happening in nearly 20 different cities throughout the Dallas/Metro area.


HOW LONG DOES A TYPICAL GROUP STAY TOGETHER?

Most groups meet for a semester. This way, new people can join groups easily and regularly. Also, the semester format allows you to try multiple groups each year. As relationships form, some groups choose to participate in other events as a group. (Outreach opportunities, Fall Fest, Serve Day, etc.)


IS THERE CHILDCARE AVAILABLE?

Childcare varies from group to group. When you search our directory for a group, the group profile will indicate if childcare is available.


WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE THE FIRST GROUP I TRY?

The truth is, not everyone will find the best fit with the first group they try. This is why we encourage you to select a few groups that interest you, contact the leaders and try out a couple different groups before choosing the best one for you. The simple strategy to finding success in small groups is to not give up. We believe there is a group that is right for everyone—including you!
